Statistician
In all areas you will work under the supervision of Dr. David Lansky and in collaboration with others at Precision Bioassay.
We are developing an integrated software package of statistical designs and analysis techniques for cell culture bioassay. This package can be linked to a robotic pipettor to implement randomized designs which constitutes a comprehensive bioassay system. Portions of the code development for this project, primarily in the R language, will be your responsibility.
Statistical research will include literature searches, theoretical development, programming, and simulations to address open statistical questions that are relevant for bioassay design or analysis using mixed linear or nonlinear models.
Client consulting projects and analysis of client data will be assigned. These will be selected based on consulting needs, the skills and experience required, and the potential learning opportunities involved. For these projects a timely design or analysis is needed as well as a report to the client. These consulting projects will often involve using and extending our in-house software.
Required
- Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field
- Statistical consulting experience, ideally involving assay development and validation
- Modern statistical training or experience including multilevel (or mixed) models and nonlinear models
- Strong statistical programming skills in R or Splus
- Good writing and communication skills
Desired
- Experience developing packages in the R language including implementation of object oriented classes and methods (S version 3 or S version 4)
- Non-clinical pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience
- Experience with bioassay of protein or vaccine products for stability or lot release
- Training or experience in biology, ideally biochemistry and/or cell biology
- Trainingand experience in experimental design
Responsibilities
- Statistical analysis and reporting of results to consulting clients
- Research on statistical methods
- Statistical Programming
Precision Bioassay provides a competitive benefits package and compensation, a casual but professional work environment, and a flexible work schedule.
To apply, send:
- C.V.
- Cover letter describing your availability and the situation you are seeking.
- A short description (1-2 pages) of two or three projects in which you did the statistical analysis or statistical software development. Please describe your contributions as well as how the statistics contributed to the science.
