Internship positions are contingent on funding.

Interns should be in a graduate program and be returning to school after the internship.

Please submit a cover letter, CV, and a short (2 pages maximum) description of 1-3 consulting projects. The consulting project descriptions should include a description of the application area problem, the statistical problem, how you solved the statistical problem, and how the statistical solution addressed the science or management problem.

Statistical Intern

Job Description:
Precision Bioassay, Inc. consults to industry, academia, and government on statistical issues related to biological assays. These include: design, analysis, development, and validation, of bioassays as well as how to appropriately use bioassay results. These uses include stability studies, understanding the relationships among product specifications, variation in the product, and the capabilities of various components of the collection of assays for a product. We develop and improve statistical methods, implement them in R as well as creating effective links between statistical software and laboratory robotics. The successful candidate will participate in: data analysis and report writing for consulting projects, statistical research, and software or assay development and testing.

Requirements:
Candidates should have training in statistical theory and methods and some relevant experience. This experience should include R or S-plus, TeX, Sweave, and consulting on applied statistics in biology. A working familiarity with linear models, nonlinear models, mixed effects models, and strong communication skills (written and oral) are required.

Training or experience in the following areas will be particularly relevant: design of experiments, biological sciences, biological assay, non-clinical applications of statistics in the pharmaceutical industry, laboratory automation, working in a Linux environment, R package development, or web/Python application development.
